Pakistani lawyers in ‘long march’ |
||
|
Lawyers from across Pakistan are taking part in a countrywide protest to demand the reinstatement of senior judges sacked under emergency rule last year. The protesters are demanding the resignation of President Pervez Musharraf who dismissed the judges. Correspondents say the action is also a test for the new government, which is split on how to reinstate the judges. The lawyers say the protest - named the long march - will reach the capital, Islamabad, later this week. Security has been tightened in the city, with riot police erecting barricades and blocking access to parliament where protesters plan to gather. ‘Historic day’ Thousands of lawyers and civil society activists as well as supporters of some political parties are converging in vehicles on the city of Multan, the official starting point for the rally. They were joined there by deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry.
The protesters want Mr Musharraf’s actions overturned. “The lawyers’ representative body has called for this march against the atrocious acts of Pervez Musharraf on 3 November 2007 and they are demanding unconditional reversal,” Athar Minallah, a spokesman for Mr Chaudhry, told the BBC. The convoys will then head for Islamabad, making several stops on the way where reception camps have been set up to receive them, offer them drinks and shower rose petals on them. The BBC’s Syed Shoaib Hasan in Islamabad says the rally could be the first real challenge to Pakistan’s fragile new civilian government. It could also increase tensions in the government as the junior partner, the Pakistan Muslim League of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif (PML-N), is taking part in the demonstrations. On Monday, about 4,000 activists from various political parties gathered in Karachi and chanted slogans such as “Go, Musharraf, Go!” and “Musharraf is an American dog!” Security forces were also out in large numbers, but the rally was peaceful. Lawyers at a similar protest outside the Multan District Courts hung a large effigy of President Musharraf before beating it and setting it on fire. Infuriated The president dismissed dozens of judges, including the Supreme Court chief justice, in November when he imposed emergency rule. At the time he faced numerous legal challenges to staying on as president.
The move further enraged lawyers and his political opponents, who were already infuriated over his attempts earlier in the year to sack Mr Chaudhry. After they won the elections, both the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the PML-N promised to restore the judges but they have not agreed on the mechanics of how this should be done. The PML-N argues that the judges should be reappointed by an executive order from the prime minister. But correspondents say that the PPP wants to link any reinstatement to a major package of constitutional reforms. The two parties also appear to differ over how to deal with President Musharraf. PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has called for his removal and trial for treason, but the PPP appears wary of a confrontation with the president, who has insisted that he has no plans to resign |

Subject: Fwd: Aitzaz Ahson took money from Nawaz Sharif to make lawyers movement a hot crisis on the country
To: kim_abdalian@yahoo.com
It has been brought to us by very reliable sources that Aitzaz Ahson was paid 10 Karor rupees by Nawaz Sharif to make Lawyers movement a national crisis and national movement which will enable him to take power and get rid of Musharraf.
It also been told by our sources that Aitzaz Ahson who is having problems with Asif Ali Zardari will resign from PPP membership and move to PML [n] if Judges are not reinstated soon.
It is very serious matter and we at shetaniloatay.com ask Mr Aitzaz Ahson or any of Nawaz Sharif leader to come along and tell the people of Pakistan about 10 Karor rupees and why this substantial amount was given to Aitzaz Ahson.

The President of Pakistan Pervaz Mushrraf is working on give and take policy with Peoples party but many people are saying that how far this policy will take him and in the end who will win this power struggle.
In our view sooner or later democratic means will win and Mushrraf will go but question is how long he will stay and keeps politicians away from looting Pakistan.
We ask all web site visitors to send their views on it, we only ask that you have to be a neutral person to see things clearly so we ask that your views should present things in a manner that it can show very clear picture to others.
Mr. Zardari is talking to his coalition partners about a constitutional package which is aiming to address issues such as 52B and the president of Pakistan’s power to appoint Army chiefs and election commission.
After having problems with Nawaz Sharif in regards to reinstate chief justice, Zardari is after something which help him to keep his collation partners and Also his all coalition partners are asking him to take this hard decision and remove Musharraf and bring country back to actual and full democracy in other words so they can LOOT Pakistan freely and nobody say anything in return.
Mr 10% Zardari is more careful but after having problems with PMLN he is willing to bring this package which will either remove Mushrraf or have his powers back.
The other side President House is completely quiet and nothing has been said about this or any other issue talked by PPP and PMLN and it seems that something is going on behind the scene within President’s own favourite people. The president of PMLQ MR. Shujaat Hussain met President couple of times recently and they must have talked about this and other problems facing to Mushrraf, If there is constructional package which is about the power of President then it will be very difficult for Mushrraf to accept or reject it because in both ways he will be left with nothing.
There are some people who say that he can work on give and take basic and can remain on seat but give his power back to Prime Minister but it does not look that simple if Mushrraf accepts it then all Pakistan will be in the hands of these politicians which in Mushrraf words are not capable of doing anything and as far as people’s mandate is concerned he thinks that Pakistani people are not right on this.
We think that situation is can become very bad if this package has been brought and PPP might lose Government altogether, let us see what happens next>>>>>>>>>>>
Mr 10% Zadari has said that he is facing too much pressure from coalition parties to remove Mushrraf.
It seems to us that Zardari is in hurry and wants power in full not partly so he can grab money from Governments accounts and put it in his account so his next generations do not have to struggle for money when they are not in power.
If you want to remove Mushrraf what you will do?????????
You can remove him by having his power back but how are you going to have his power back, Mushrraf knows that he has lost one power which was being a Army General now he got only one power left which can save him from politicians so if somebody thinks that he will give his power back easily or give it back on give and take basic then we are living in a fantasy world.
Mushrraf will not let it go easily and if Zardari is in a hurry then he should think twice before he takes any action against Mushrraf.
The truth is that as soon Zardari tries to take any action, Mushrraf will use his 52b power and remove Government from power and bring his favourite people back in power.
The second thing is that Zardari should not listen to coalition parties as they are too week and want to use peoples party for their own agenda but if Zardari listen to them, peoples party will go sooner rather than later and Zardari will be back either in jail or in America talking his friend Hussain Haqani why they lost power again.
Zardari needs money but he should not touch Mushrraf if he wants to see his son in power soon or if he wants to see peoples party Government for next few years.
You are too stupid “you Zardari” and we do not see any positive things from you. The poor need food and roof they are not concerned who is Chief Justice or who is President
